Intex i-Tab launched at Rs. 8,990, with 8-inch display and Android 2.3


Intex has announced the launch of the iTab in India, an 8-inch Android 2.3 Gingerbread tablet priced at Rs. 8,990 (MRP). The same tablet is also available in a special bundled pack, with an Intex 3G data card (HSDPA 7.2Mbps/HSUPA 5.76Mbps), available at roughly Rs. 11,000 on the street.
Specifications of the Intex i-Tab include an 8-inch 5-point multi-touch capacitive display, 1GHz ARM Cortex A8 processor, 1GB DDR3 RAM, Wi-Fi connectivity, 3G connectivity via USB dongle, GPS connectivity, and 8GB of built-in storage.
The Intex i-Tab is powered by a 5,000 mAh battery, rated to deliver up to 6 hours of backup with Wi-Fi on. Other features include microSD card support up to 32GB, external HDD support up to 1TB, USB and microUSB ports, HDMI port, front-facing VGA camera, a microphone, a 3.5mm audio jack, and a 360 degree G-sensor. It weighs in at 475 grams, and supports 1080p HD video playback.
Intex has also pre-loaded applications such as a document viewer, Adobe Reader, battery saver, Google Maps, as well as such popular games as Angry Birds, Solitaire, Paper Toss, Talking Tom, etc.
The new i-Tab is available at both various authorized retailers across the country, as well as the 70 Intex Square exclusive retail stores. Intex will soon be launching 7-inch and 10-inch models as well.
