Your gaming chops could earn you $10,000 for college
TwitchTV is a place where gamers of all ages can showcase their skills, build fan bases, and stream their gameplay for hundreds or even thousands of viewers. Through partnerships, gamers can even make a living doing what they love, but a new initiative goes beyond the ad revenue and subscription models to give talented gamers college scholarships.
Through a partnership with hardware manufacturer Alienware and accessory maker SteelSeries, a total of $50,000 is being offered up to gamers with an eye on higher education. Twitch with be accepting applications from June 5 through June 15. Applicants will need to prove their gaming chops however they can — whether that be a high leaderboard rank in a particular game, a crazy highlight of themselves playing, or any other way they feel like highlighting their prowess.
But it's not just about games: Applicants will also need a respectable GPA in order to be considered. After reviewing the submissions and narrowing down the finalists, five winners will be announced on August 15. Each winner will receive $10,000 towards their continued education. Starting tomorrow, June 5, you can submit your application via TwitchTV's application page.
