Soon after Facebook announced Monday that it was buying Instagram, maker of the popular photo-sharing app, for $1 billion, Twitter began to light up with talk about it.
Most Twitter users were saying they are unhappy about the pending purchase. They complained about the move and some threatened to delete their Instagram accounts. Several blogs quickly began posting information on how they could do that.
"Facebook is buying instagram -___- ???? welp there goes that fun," tweeted @WhoIsJayStorm.
News of the acquisition hit when Facebook co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg posted a blogabout the purchase on the social networking site. The acquisition, which Facebook hopes to finalize by later this quarter, comes just as the social network is preparing for its initial public offering.
But as executives at Facebook and Instragram were likely celebrating the deal, many people in Twitterville were having the opposite reaction.
