Burg has launched its range of wristwatch mobile phones in India, starting from Rs. 9,000. The mobile wristwatches were designed by Hermen Van Den Burg, an internationally acclaimed designer known for his contribution to Ikea and Target ranges. The Burg wristwatches were awarded the Most Innovative Product of 2009 Award.
Burg has opened 3 retail outlets in Delhi (Moments Mall - Kirti Nagar, MGF Mall - Gurgaon, Greater Kailash), and intends to open 20 more outlets within the year. Right now, four models have been introduced, Burg 9, Burg 10, Burg 11, Burg 12 and Burg 13, with varied features and pricing, with the top-end offering coming for Rs. 24,000.
The Burg wristwatch phones were launched in India by Burg’s Global Sales Director, Koen Pieters, who said: “Burg products are perfectly designed and workable with dual advantage of being a wrist watch and enjoying the convenience of a mobile phone. The rigorous research went into product designing and well tested and trialed products have made Brug, world’s most advanced and famous brand of wrist watch mobile phones worldwide.”
The Burg wristwatch mobile phone can make and receive phone calls, SMSes and MMSes. They support mobile internet thru WAP 1.2.1, bear an MP3 / MP4 Player, a front-facing camera with 3x zoom function and video recording, an audio recorder and voice recorder, as well as an image viewer, file manager, organizer, task list, alarm clock, and calculator. The wristwatch mobile phones also support Bluetooth, and come with a vibrate function. They have phone books capable of storing up to 500 numbers, and feature a scratch-resistant touch pad, a microSD card slot, and support for multiple languages.
Burg reportedly has retail presence in Italy, Germany, Russia, Mexico, United States of America, Spain, Chile, Venezuela, Norway, Switzerland etc and now it has tainted the spot light on Asian countries including India. Commenting on India entry, Pieters added: “India is emerging as one of the key market for technology products as India's expanding economy and rising disposable incomes are fostering demands for such gadgets.”
Many people have a regular mobile phone, but very few have a wrist cheap watches. In fact, most people have never even heard of a watch cell phone.
